Germany-based automation specialist Festo proudly celebrated its 100th anniversary with the opening of a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, on June 6, 2025. This milestone highlights Festo’s century-long dedication to innovation, excellence, and sustainable progress in industrial automation and vocational education.

The newly launched plant reflects a major strategic investment of approximately Rs 500 crores. Spread across 75 acres of developed industrial land, the facility is designed to serve both Indian and global markets with high-precision automation solutions. Strengthening Festo’s manufacturing base in India, the plant is set to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs initially, with plans for further expansion in both operations and workforce. Incorporating advanced technologies and adhering to international standards, the plant will specialise in the production of sophisticated pneumatic automation components.

The inauguration event was attended by distinguished representatives from the Government of Tamil Nadu, industry leaders, members of Festo’s Supervisory Board, Chairman of the Management Board Thomas Böck, Member of the Management Board for Research and Development Ansgar Kriwet, Member of the Management Board for Operations Jaroslav Patka, and members of the Festo owner family. Key dignitaries present included Dr P. Alarmelmangai, IAS – Guidance, Tamil Nadu; Achim Burkart, Consul General of Germany; and Festo India Managing Directors Rashmikant Joshi and Ravi Sastry.

Festo maintains a strong global presence to deliver innovative, flexible solutions to customers at the local level. To support this, the company continues to expand its international R&D, production, and logistics centres, alongside strengthening its supply chain. Festo’s strategy emphasises regionalisation through a “local for local” approach—aimed at reducing transport distances, enhancing supply chain resilience, and cutting emissions.

Marking the importance of the occasion, the event saw active participation from Festo’s loyal customers, reliable partners, and key suppliers from across India. Their involvement symbolises the strong and enduring partnerships Festo has cultivated over the years, reinforcing its position as a trusted automation solutions provider in the Indian landscape. The event also served as a forum to exchange insights, highlight shared achievements, and reaffirm joint aspirations for the years ahead.
