Gabriel India expanding with eighth plant to meet growing demand

The Anand Group company, experiencing a significant surge in the supply of suspension parts to the passenger vehicle segment, is preparing to meet future demand from both domestic and international markets by establishing its eighth plant in India.

Gabriel India, the flagship company of the versatile Anand Group, is actively considering a greenfield expansion for its passenger vehicle and two-wheeler suspension components. Currently in the land acquisition phase, the company is exploring the possibility of setting up a new facility in South India to meet the growing demands of both the domestic and overseas markets.

This new facility is expected to be commissioned in FY2025, further solidifying its position as the eighth domestic plant for the prominent Indian suspension systems manufacturer. Over the past couple of years, the company has witnessed a significant increase in its passenger vehicle market share, rising from 22 per cent to 30 per cent.

During an interview, Manoj Kolhatkar, Managing Director of Gabriel India, stated, "We are in the process of setting up a new plant that will cater to both passenger vehicles and two-wheelers, with some backward integration, particularly focused on in-house castings for our front fork outer tubes."

He also revealed, "While we are currently in the land acquisition phase, production at the new South India plant is scheduled to commence in FY2025." Currently, the company operates seven plants in Khandsa (Haryana), Chakan (Maharashtra), Nashik (Maharashtra), Hosur (Tamil Nadu), Sanand (Gujarat), Parwanoo (Himachal Pradesh), and Dewas (Madhya Pradesh), supplying locally manufactured suspension components to leading OEMs across various vehicle categories.

With an anticipation of further growth in its production volumes, the company is concurrently executing brownfield expansion projects at its Khandsa and Chakan facilities. Gabriel India has allocated Rs 30 crore to each of these two plants for FY2024 to bolster its manufacturing capacities to meet future demand.
