Trishul Machine Tools Pvt Ltd is a leading manufacturer of polygon turning machines, which are widely used in various industries. In this interview, C S Shivashankaraiah, Managing Director, Trishul Machine Tools Pvt Ltd, highlights importance of polygon turning machines and the company’s future plans.

How is your company serving its customers?
Trishul Machine Tools Pvt Ltd is in the business of manufacturing polygon turning machines used as a second operation machine after the turning operation. Polygon turning is a very cost effective solution for machining flat, square, hexagon and other polygonal surfaces on the mass produced components.

There are certain automotive parts like fuel injection parts, power steering parts, valves stems, etc where the operations have to be carried out on the polygon turning machine for various technical reasons. Trishul Machine Tools specialises in providing solutions to these operations. We serve industries such as automotive, fasteners, aerospace, valves and power tools.

What is your assessment of the present status of the machine tools industry in India?
The Covid 19 has certainly impacted the manufacturing scenario in the country. In the post Covid 19 times, the global supply chain has been disrupted substantially. OEMs world over are trying to fix this issue with sustainable and reliable supply chains, which are less susceptible to the policy vagaries of certain countries. India scores very high on these parameters and has been a preferred destination for sourcing. This will certainly bring additional business to the machine tool industry in additional to the organic growth prevalent in the country.

Could you please brief us about some of your new offerings to the industry?
Trishul Polygon Turning Machine Model TPT-2s is a very popular model for machining second operation, milling operations. On certain applications, this model is reported to have replaced 3 vertical machining centers (VMCs) there by bringing in enormous cost benefits for our customers.

We want to stay focused on the polygon turning machine in the years to come. We are the leading player in the country now and we wish to be number one in the world soon.

With automation and digitalization gaining prominence in companies, how are you gearing up to serve your customers better?
Automation and digitalisation are certainly catching up in the Indian manufacturing industries. The shortage of manpower is adding impetus for this. We are receiving more and more orders with automation for the Trishul polygon turning machine. In addition, we are equipping our machine with IoT feature on the machine.

Is Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative helping the industry?
The effect of Aatmanirbhar Bharat is certainly visible in the day to day affairs of the machine tool industry and it is bringing more orders to us.

What are some of the emerging trends in the industry?
Currently, Trishul polygon turning machines are sold in Mexico, USA, Turkey, UK, Germany, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, China and Taiwan.

We have a large population of our machines in UK and Turkey. Exporting machine Tools is challenging task; however, it is interesting as we interact with people of various countries, standards, work culture, habits and priorities. Every emerging market is a challenge and brings in new trends to our products.

What are your growth plans for the company?
The financial year 2022-23 was good for us except that there were certain supply constraints. FY 2023-24 looks very promising. With the supply chain getting back to normal, we expect FY 2023-24 to be very good.
