Dixon partners with Nokia to manufacture fixed broadband devices in India

Dixon Technologies has begun manufacturing fixed broadband devices in India through a collaboration with Finnish telecom giant Nokia, targeting the country’s growing demand for broadband services fuelled by Fibre to the Home (FTTH) and 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technologies. Dixon Electro, a subsidiary of Dixon, will produce up to 10 million broadband devices annually at its Noida facility, including GPON, 5G FWA, and Mesh Wi-Fi systems, offering speeds of up to one gigabit per second for each household.

The devices are designed and developed by Nokia’s R&D Centre in Chennai, while Dixon Electro oversees mass production. This partnership is expected to generate around 3,000 new jobs and significantly boost local manufacturing. Nokia, a leader in broadband infrastructure in India, currently supports over half of the nation’s FTTH network and aims to enhance home connectivity with 5G FWA and Wi-Fi beacons.

Atul B Lall, Vice Chairman, Dixon emphasised that the partnership aligns with India’s self-reliance goals, further strengthening the local electronics ecosystem. Nokia’s VP of Fixed Networks, Sandy Motley, highlighted the collaboration’s role in supporting India’s shift to a digital economy through advanced broadband solutions. Dixon Technologies, which achieved Rs 64.11 billion in revenue in FY24, operates 23 facilities across India, serving over 100 clients.
