Dabur to invest Rs 4 billion in TN for new plant; Over 250 jobs expected

Dabur, a leading FMCG company in India, has announced a Rs 4 billion investment in Tamil Nadu to set up a manufacturing plant in Villupuram district. The company formalised this commitment through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government.

Tamil Nadu’s Industries Minister, Dr TRB Rajaa, confirmed the development on social media, highlighting that this will be Dabur’s first manufacturing facility in South India. The plant, located at the SIPCOT Food Park in Tindivanam, is expected to generate over 250 jobs and offer new opportunities for local farmers to supply agro-produce for processing.

Rajaa expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting that it underscores Tamil Nadu’s robust industrial ecosystem and skilled labour force. He also mentioned that this investment aligns with the state’s strategic goal of enhancing food processing industries in the Delta region, where both he and Chief Minister MK Stalin have strong ties.

Dabur, renowned for its diverse product range including Real fruit juices, Meswak and Babool toothpastes, and Vatika hair oils, was founded in 1884. The company’s shares were up by 1.53% at Rs 644.20, reflecting a year-to-date increase of 15.52%.
