Ansys and SASTRA Launch Centre of Excellence in Space & Defence

The Centre of Excellence has been unveiled to advance aerospace and defence technologies, providing an integrated platform for simulation, design, and research expertise.

Ansys, part of Synopsys, and SASTRA Deemed University, one of India’s leading engineering and scientific institutions, have launched the Ansys-SASTRA Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Advanced Space and Defence Technologies at the SASTRA campus in Thanjavur.
The Centre, combining Ansys simulation tools with SASTRA’s high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, will focus on vital areas such as structural and thermal analyses for aerospace systems, multiphysics simulations for space initiatives, and mission reliability and system safety modelling. Additionally, it will cover propulsion, materials engineering, and electromagnetics for defence communication and radar systems.
Ansys is committed to developing the next generation of engineers capable of tackling challenges in the space and defence sectors. This collaboration provides students, researchers, and faculty access to cutting-edge engineering simulation tools, offering the opportunity to work on real-world aerospace and defence projects. The Centre also supports national initiatives like Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Gati Shakti, further developing advanced research capabilities. This partnership marks a significant step towards building a technology-driven India, ready to meet the demands of the emerging space era and future defence innovations.
