The 6th International Congress 2024 (IC-2024) will be held from 22-24 January, 2024 at Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) coinciding with IMTEX Forming 2024 and WeldExpo 2024.
IC-2024 aims to provide a dynamic forum for professionals from industries, academia and research institutes to share and enhance the knowledge base in welding science and technology, discussing strategies to make industries globally competitive. It will discuss the ways of boosting industrialisation through skill development and will promote regional cooperation by actively involving neighbouring countries. The International Congress will also offer a platform for Young Professionals in the field of welding to be a part of an exclusive Young Professional International Conference (YPIC).
The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW-India) was incorporated on the April 22, 1966 at Kolkata to foster the development of welding science, technology and engineering in India and since then has been serving the cause of the welding industry through its 13 branche throughout India. It has joined hands with International Institute of Welding (IIW) to organise International Congress (IC) every three years to showcase the latest developments to the welding fraternity.
Welding finds acceptance among a wide range of manufacturing applications including pressure vessels, railways, aircraft, ships, medical devices and high-volume products like automotive parts, appliances, food packaging and microelectronics. The demand for welding products across a cross- section of industry verticals have been increasing day-by-day. Weldexpo, a concurrent show at IMTEX Forming 2024, shines a spotlight on the crucial role of welding in various manufacturing applications.
The growing importance of Welding in different sectors
Welding plays a crucial role in both the pressure vessels and railways sectors, where its importance cannot be overstated. The reliability and safety of welds in these applications are paramount. At Weldexpo, attendees will have the opportunity to observe demonstrations of cutting-edge welding techniques employed in these sectors, showcasing automated welding systems that ensure precision and consistency.
The medical device industry heavily relies on welding to manufacture intricate and highly dependable components. Weldexpo will showcase exhibits from top manufacturers, illustrating how micro-welding technologies are revolutionizing the production of smaller and more complex medical devices with enhanced reliability.
In the automotive industry, welding is indispensable for crafting durable and secure vehicles. The exhibition will shine a spotlight on the latest advancements in automotive welding, featuring robotic welding systems and laser welding technologies that provide superior speed, precision, and quality.
WeldExpo 2024
The Weldexpo at IMTEX Forming 2024 goes beyond merely showcasing the versatility of welding; it also serves as a platform for spotlighting the latest advancements in welding technology. The exhibition will present an array of cutting-edge welding solutions, ranging from state-of-the-art welding machines to innovative welding consumables.
A standout feature of the event is the demonstration of automated welding systems. These systems leverage robotics and advanced control systems to deliver welds of exceptional precision and repeatability, fundamentally reshaping the approach industries take towards welding. They not only enhance productivity but also elevate the overall quality of welding processes.
An additional exciting development is the integration of additive manufacturing or 3D printing into the welding sector. This groundbreaking technology allows manufacturers to construct intricate parts by layering material, unlocking new possibilities for design and production methodologies.
The exhibition will also shine a spotlight on the increasing significance of welding data management. By systematically collecting and analysing data from welding operations, companies can gain valuable insights into their processes, pinpoint areas for enhancement, and ensure compliance with rigorous quality standards.
Deepak Acharya, President, Indian institute of Welding (IIW India), gives a brief overview of the welding industry and also shares the emerging trends in this interview with Rakesh Rao.
