The National Security Guard (NSG) and the Assam Rifles have received pilot lots of the ASMI and have expressed interest in further deployment, while the Border Security Force (BSF) has placed a pilot order for four guns.

Lokesh Machines Ltd., based in Hyderabad and renowned for CNC machines, has achieved a milestone with its ASMI submachine gun, which has been officially adopted by the Indian Army. This marks the first instance of a domestically designed and manufactured weapon being inducted into the army. The ASMI has received a significant order from the Northern Command for 550 units and has garnered positive feedback from various security forces. It has proven superior to international competitors in terms of accuracy and reliability, boasting a lightweight design made from aerospace-grade aluminum and compatibility with both local and NATO-standard ammunition. Priced at under Rs 100,000, it offers cost-effectiveness and versatility for a range of military applications, showcasing India's advancements in defense manufacturing and self-reliance efforts.
