Chains Made Of Ceramics Or Powdered Metals

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Sintered Materials, a process has been developed for producing chains from ceramic or powdered metals. The process can also be used to produce any component made up of individual moving parts which are undetachably interlinked. According to the institute, the highlight is that the properties of the materials used are present throughout the entire component since there are no joining or adhesion is required. Properties of advanced ceramic materials such as high temperature and chemical resistance can be used under the most extreme conditions. Potential applications are seen in high temperature technologies, in metallurgy and in chemical processing.
