Planetary Winches

Braden, USA, manufactures winches powered by high efficiency gear motor designed for smooth operation. Motor torque is transmitted and multiplied by the highly efficient gear train to the winch drum. All rotating components are supported by anti-friction bearings and run in oil to minimise any frictional losses. When operated in the hoisting direction, an overrunning clutch permits free rotation through the fully applied brake, but immediately locks up when the hoisting operation is completed. The load is held firm by the spring applied brake, even if the engine dies or a hydraulic line breaks. When lowering, load control is maintained by the pointed Braden brake valve, known for its smooth performance. The brake valve not only provides smooth load control, but also adapts well to most hydraulic systems. The brake valve is also backed up by an internal automatic multidisc safety brake that is spring applied and hydraulically released. The Braden planetary winches have unique features in all its models. The high line pulls allow full utilisation of wire rope strength even on upper layers of the drum. Optional gear ratios and motor sizes are made to tailor winch performance to hydraulic system and application. The patented Braden brake valves are known for their smooth performance and greater stability. Braden winches have anti-friction bearings to maximise low speed performance and overall efficiency.
