Festo?s new high-speed Pick & Place unit type HSP-AE with electrical drive is a true sprinter when it comes to handling and assembling electronic components, operating nimbly even in restricted spaces. This makes handling of miniature components even more flexible than the company?s pneumatic High Speed Pick & Place module HSP. As a link-guided unit, the HSP-AE works precisely and reliably in a minimum of space to handle miniature workpieces with typical weights of up to 100 g. With cycle times of 0.6 to 1.0 seconds, this module can handle up to 100 workpieces a minute, which makes it highly cost-effective and able to offer productivity increases of up to 20%. A combination of the HSP-AE and the new intelligent DC motor MTR-DCI provides even more flexibility in confined spaces. On the training schedule of the HSP-AE: freely teachable intermediate positions. Waiting and ejection positions and speed profiles make it possible to define further functions in addition to a start and end position. A further plus point: Its controlled acceleration allows the HSP-AE to make a jolt-free approach to end positions. With no more need for shock absorbers, the result is reliable and precise positioning, even after countless pick & place cycles. With its compact design, the electrical drive MTR-DCI combines three components (motor/gearbox, controller, power electronics) in one. Originally developed for size-changing applications in the printing, woodworking and packaging industries, the MTR-DCI has become an intelligent team player backing Festo pick & place modules. In addition to offering a choice of target and teach-in positions, this electrical drive also provides diagnostic information. This ensures optimum reliability and reduces set-up times. Commissioning can be carried out quickly and easily as desired, using a PC and RS 232 interface and the Festo Config Tool (FCT) software provided as standard, or via the optional integrated LCD display.
