Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC), one of the largest integrated engineering complexes in India, manufactures and supplies capital equipment and machinery and renders project execution services for core sector industries. The company designs and manufactures heavy-duty Electric Overhead (EOT) Cranes for application in steel plants, engineering sector, space research applications, etc. The highest capacity crane designed and manufactured so far is 450-tonne ladle crane for handling hot liquid metal. Others include: EOT cranes for workshops and engineering sector up to 400 T; ladle crane for handling hot metal ladles in steel and metallurgical plant up to 450 T; rotating trolley crane; tundish handling crane; magnet grab crane; slab handling tong crane for steel plant application; four girder double trolley semi portal scrap charging crane; and cantilever roof mounted tower crane. The company has complete manufacturing set up starting from castings and forgings, fabrication, machining, assembly and testing – all located at one location backed by a strong design, engineering and technology team. It has contributed in the indigenisation and expansion of steel plants and modernisation of coal sector. It has saved valuable foreign exchange for the country as most of the products manufactured by it are import substitute in nature. The company has special focus in the following sectors: steel plant equipment, power, space application, mining equipment, railways, nuclear energy, machine tools, and defence.
