Cable Drag Chains/Cable Carriers

Cable Drag Chains are installed in two positions

• Supported application
• Unsupported application

Supported Application:

Travel speed, rate of acceleration, additional load & the stability of cable drag chains are some of the parameters require to decide whether to support or unsupport the cable drag chains.

• Travel speed i.e. the cycle frequency per hour per day as per the requirement of machine operation
• Rate of acceleration i.e. the movement of cable drag chains up to certain length
• Additional load i.e. the weight of cable/hoses inserted in cable drag chains
• The stability i.e. the cable drag chains must be in correct position

Horizontal Support:

A tray should be correct criteria for smooth movements. The width of cable drag chains plus 5 mm is a width of tray. No warpage between the lengths of tray. The side of tray must be straight.

Vertical Support:

Generally, recommended for greater heights to have the first three links fitted with external support. If maximum height and fill weight frequently require the complete length to be supported.

Unsupported Application:

Parameters account for unsupport application are travel length, rate of acceleration, additional load and the stability of cable drag chains.

The travel length will be very small and rate of acceleration very low. Additional load should not be more than the stability of cable drag chains. The cable drag chains can move without support. Many types of cable drag chains can work without support.
