A smooth action caterpillar drive unit provides motive power for the conveyor. The motor drives the reduction gearbox through a motor or a variable speed adjuster (if necessary), permitting the speed of the conveyor to be easily changed, if desired. A finger on the drive chain directly engages three sets of trolleys at a time. The elite design permits a slight relative motion between the trolleys engaged evenly distributing the drive power amongst all the three trolleys for a smooth, continuous drive action. Sharper up and down turns can be made with the conveyor, providing many advantages over conventional I-beam conveyors. In dipping operations, e.g., smaller dip tanks can be used; less paint or dip solution is needed, which requires considerably less space.
