Rivetless Conveyor Chain

A conveyor chain is only as strong as its weakest link – Webb-India believes that identifying and eliminating that weak link during production process is an important quality assurance procedure. Through years of experience, producing thousands of miles of conveyor chains, the company has learned that "soft" chain parts are the leading cause of premature chain failure. To identify these "soft" chain parts during production, it uses advanced multi-frequency eddy current testing to verify proper Rockwell hardness and material mix in all of its X458 and X678 conveyor chain. Any piece not meeting the required hardness and material mix is rejected. This ensures that the chain components delivered to customers have the correct strength, hardness, and reliability expected from Webb conveyor chain components. Many chain manufacturers utilise pre-load or proof-load testing methods, which are only simple tensile strength tests. These tests are conducted by imposing a load on a length of chain for a short period of time. If the chain does not fail, it is believed to have appropriate strength for productive use. Unfortunately, this method does not verify or check the integrity of each part.
