Central Power Research Institute has a separate division for Diagnostic Cables & Capacitors. This Diagnostic Cables & Capacitors Division (DCCD) provides the following services.

• Failure analysis of Power Cables.
• Failure analysis of Power Cable Accessories.
• Performance Evaluation of HT capacitor banks under switching Transients.
• Long term performance of LV and HV capacitors under simulated service conditions.
• Root cause analysis of failure of capacitor banks.
• Performance Evaluation of LT Capacitors under Harmonics/Transients.
• Consultancy Services for Detection and Location (3D) of partial Discharge in electrical equipment like power transformers, power capacitors, etc. using Acoustic Emission Technique.
• Field engineering services for On-Line partial discharge measurement on power transformers in services.
• Laboratory can also help manufacturers for development of new types of capacitors for applications and power sector.
