Piston Rings, Nonmetallic

Poly Fluoro offers non-metallic piston rings that do not require lubrication for satisfactory operation. There are many applications where lubricants would be considered a contaminant or even a fire hazard, eg, in food-processing equipment. For these applications, piston rings can be made from self-lubricating materials. These materials can also be used in lubricated applications where there is a risk for lubricant breakdown. The Lubring sealing elements offer very good load carrying properties combined with low coefficient of friction and high wear resistance. It has good thermal and electrostatic dissipation. It is particularly suitable for wet operating conditions and for contact with corrosive media. Typical properties of ring materials include tensile strength up to 20 N/mm? with coefficient of expansion 118 x 10-6/?C, good up to 200? C. Operating conditions having terminal pressure up to 200 bar can be efficiently achieved with Lubring elements having the coefficient of friction remaining at 0.12/0.18 (dry condition). Depending on the differential pressure the number of rings may be varied for mean piston speed upto 6 m/s. Lubring sealing elements are available as strips in continuous coils and can be easily cut and sliced to the required form. It is a fluoropolymer based tape intended to be used primarily as a guiding element for hydraulics and pneumatics.
