Gas Lubricated Slide Ring Seal For Liquid Supply Pumps

Feodor Burgmann Dichtungswerke GmbH & Co has marketed a gas lubricated slide ring seal with the area of application in liquid supply pumps. From a design point of view the seal corresponds to the conventional make with the difference that the sliding areas are broader and instead of liquid, it is gas lubricated. This is taken care of by the V- or U-grooves made on the gliding areas. Vgrooves are used for three directions-dependent and the U-grooves three directions-independent variations. According to data a stable gas film is formed in the tight gap at a minimum number of rotations.
