Silo Cleaning by Promat Whipping & Cardox System

Silos are storage vessels in the cement plant, food processing industry and chemical industry for different types of materials like raw meal, gypsum, clinker, cement, soda ash, etc.
These materials, being hydroscopic in nature, get deposited on the sides of the walls of the silo and/or bottom of the silo/inverted cones. This accumulation of material inside the silo reduces the capacity of the silo and thus, the silos are not utilised to its full capacity. This results in loss of revenue because of accumulated material and also underutilisation of the silos. Thus, it is necessary to clean the silos on a periodical basis.

Promat Whipping & Cardox System
In order to overcome the hazardous and safety concern of manual cleaning, alternative method of cleaning the silo without sending a man inside the silo was developed by Promat and Cardox. In both the systems, the machine is operated from the top of the silo/bottom of the silo thereby ensuring 100% safety of personnel and also very efficient removal of material.

Promat Whipping System
The process is completely automated, allowing cleanout to take place without human entry into the silo or bin. It is a dry process meaning no water or other liquids are used. Therefore there is no water damage to the facility or surrounding areas. Clean upon easy and material within the silo is recoverable for further processing or load out. There is no contamination of the material plays for significant portion of the cleanout project. Promat Whipping System is a mechanical cleaning system operated with hydraulic motor mechanical boom assembly; hydraulic operated motor moves inside the silo with specialized hose. It is operated at various RPM from 0 to 900 decided by the operator from silo top. This is guided through mechanical boom with hydraulic controlling assy. The whole operation is controlled by one single person from silo top 

Cardox System
In many cases, the discharge area of the silo provides one of the biggest challenges in silo cleaning. Loose material has to be removed from the silo first and huge lumps of hardened cement are commonly found blocking the passageway during the extraction of material from the silo. In the past, the only available solution was to either pump compressed air through an improvised opening at the discharge gate, or by completely removing the discharge chute itself. However, neither method has been proven to be effective or efficient. That is, until Cardox came up with a solution of applying the Cardox System right at the heart of where most build-ups and blockages occur – at the discharge areas of the silo.
