Antistatic filter media is used in case of dusts, which are prone to generation of static charge and because of the poor electrical conductivity of synthetic filter media can lead to the build up of high amount of electrical charge sometimes resulting in an explosion. The filter media for handling such dusts is constructed by incorporating electrically conductive fibres generally stainless steel (SS) into the felt which is done by blending a small percentage of these fibres with the parent fibres or by using a conductive scrim which is woven with yarns containing SS wire.
