Termini Assembly Minimises Fibre Breakage

Fibreoptic termini design is for extreme shock environments and high reliability commercial usage. The most commonly specified size 16 contact cavity will accept both the termini and/or electrical contacts. The unit"s use of high strength ceramic tips and spring loaded socket terminus assures positive terminus to terminus interfacing in high G vibration and mechanical shock environments, while ensuring that fibre exposures remain undamaged. Precision tolerances of the termini body and an alignment sleeve enable self alignment of the pin and socket within the mated connector. Fibre breakage is minimised by rear capture of the fibre-optic cable and by incorporating an enclosed cable jacket which supports the rear end of the termini. Using an epoxy preform design as part of the termination process, a strong cable/fibre-to-termini bond provides flexibility to the fibre while significantly reducing ntemal breakage during environmental stress.
