Thyristor AC Switch Drivers

Ruby Electronic Enterprises offers Thyristor AC Switch Drivers. It is for back-to-back SCRS. It is very compact, sealed solid-state modules with no moving parts, particularly suitable for high power switching applications. The modules can fire two SCRS connected in AC switch configuration without the need of any external power source as the driver draws the required power from the mains supply (230 V or 415 V). Switching is silent, instant, does not cause any arcing and is unaffected by number of switching operations, vibrations and corrosive atmosphere. The control input is optically isolated from the mains AC power switching circuit. Input control is logic compatible. AC switches using thyristors up to 2000 A can be switched directly by these drivers even for inductive loads of low power factors such as welding transformers in resistance welding machines, fuse and switchgear products test benches. Features: input control - DC-logic compatible TTL or CMOS; output - to drive two SCRS up to 2000 A connected back to back; input to output isolation - by optocoupler; drive ensures full 180 conduction of SCRs; and no separate power supply for gate circuit.
