Spin riveting machine, heavy duty

Bharat Mechanical Works has developed a heavy-duty spin-riveting machine with 650 mm throat depth. This is capable of developing a force of 3 tonnes at a cantilever point 650 mm deep. The machine uses a pneumo-hydraulic linear drive. The structure is a pedestal type fabricated C-frame structure with a squareness of 0.01 mm with respect to the base in a ram travel of 200 mm. The machine has been developed for riveting filter meshes in large leaf filters used in oil filtration tanks. The riveted meshes have to withstand high pressures during the filtration process. The company has recently developed a double spindle spin-riveting machine capable of simultaneously riveting two assemblies at a centre distance of as close as 19.3 mm. This is extensively used in the riveting of 3 pin sockets.
