Serial redundant switch

San Telequip is a manufacturer of interface converters with an installed base of about 10,000 converters. Model SAS Serial Redundancy Switches find applications in connecting 2 (two) controllers/PLC/RTUs, etc, with serial ports, working in a redundant configuration, to a common output having a serial port like printer/PC, etc. Switching takes place on "First come First serve" basis. For higher priority override, manual switching through membrane keys is available. Variants of this product can be designed to enable Multiple Master/Multiple Slave connectivity. Switching logic : when any of the input port needs servicing the SAS locks on to that port (indicated by continuous glowing of that port LED) and transfers data to shared device. During this time if any other input wants to share the output device a busy status is passed onto that port. After finishing the job of locked port, SAS still waits to accept the data from the same port for 1 second or a predetermined period. During this period if request comes from the same input port, once again, the SAS remains locked there itself. After the time out period, SAS is again free to use by the other port. The input and output connectors are DB25. SAS is powered by 230 V AC
