Roller compactor

When processing bulk powder with particle size smaller than 100 micron, problems such as poor flow, segregation and dust generation frequently arise. Inhalation of dust, particularly of those containing active agents, is a dangerous side effect that must be avoided. Problems such as this can, however, be prevented or reduced by agglomeration of powder particles, which can be achieved by roller compacting. With roller compacting: dust generation is reduced while handling; flow increases resulting in less weight variation of tablets on tablet press. Bulk density increases, simplifying handling. Salient features: heavy-duty double roller bearing in cantilever design for both main and press roller; easily removable; machine components and construction in accordance with cGMP standard; separation of process zone from the mechanical area of the machine; product contact assemblies all from stainless steel, easily removable for cleaning; a vent is provided to release pressure of powder compacting as there is air in the powder and that must be allowed to vent away; a filter of 5 micron of sintered SS is provided, it is easily washable. The following additional features can be given with the machine at an extra cost if required: servo motor for both rollers with which precise control over speed and torque is achieved; automation of machine operation by means of a PLC; and PC based automation. Chiller with temperature control can be provided at additional cost.
