Resistors

Speedage Engineers offer Resistors. They are designed to meet the requirement for both AC & DC application for E.O.T. Cranes, Winches, Rubber Mills, Steel Mills, Flour Mils, Coal Mines, Cement Mills, Power Plants, Conveyors, Coke Oven and Blowers etc. for speed control and developing starting torque. The specification complies with BSS 587:1957. The basic types are Stainless Steel Wire Grid and Stainless Steel Punched Grid. These are designed and manufactured for current ratings from 10 to 260 Amps. Continuous Resistors of higher ratings are manufactured by using 2 or more parallel paths. Resistors with short time ratings up to 3000 Amps or even more for neutral earthing are possible which are suitable for system voltage up to 11 KV and above or any other specific requirement. Resistors can be designed to BSS/ VDE/ NEMA/ IEEE or any other requirement as specified by the customer. The temperature rise for stainless steel and punched steel grids is 375 Degree Centigrade. Resistors can also be supplied to lower temperature rise such as 220 Degree Centigrade etc. by suitably earthing the grids. Resistors for higher temperature rise have also been designed for short time duty e.g. 510 Degree Centigrade rise for cast iron grids or 760 Degree Centigrade rise for stainless steel which is permitted by IEEE standard 32. The Stainless Steel Wire Grid Type Resistors consist of corrosion resistant Stainless Steel wire or strips in the form of grids. The current rating generally ranges from 7 Amps to 80 Amps continuous. Higher ratings are possible by using multiple parallel paths. The main advantages of these resistances are reliability, compactness, and light weight. The Stainless Steel Punched Grid Type Resistors consist of grids punched from corrosion resisting Nickel Chromium Alloy Sheet Steels. Punched steel grids are completely immune to shock and vibration.
