PRECOATED ADHESIVES

Metlok Precoat offers Precoated Adhesives, Precote. It is a varnish like coating containing a microencapsulated adhesives system. Microcapsules are tiny liquid droplets enclosed within a thin polymeric wall. These microcapsules have an average diameter of 0.15 mm. Together with a binder/ carrier in a solvent they form the precote system. When applied onto a threaded fastener, the solvent evaporates leaving behind a uniform coating of "dry to touch" Precote. When a fastener coated with precote is screwed on, the microcapsules rupture due to the shearing action of the thread flanks, or simply because of pressure exerted on them. The liquid components thus released react to form a hard and tough polymer. This polymer between the mating fasteners works just in the same way a polymer formed with anaerobic adhesive works - locking and sealing the parts against vibration and shock. Wide application area: flywheel screws, differential gear unit, intake manifold fixing, gear suspension, oil and water pump, axle mounting/ lower suspension arm/ suspension strut, injection and air flow regulator, window lifter/ sunroof, generator and starter, caliper fixture/ brake parts, fixing of turbo charger aggregates, servo motors, threaded plugs, seat bolts, cylinder head studs, shock absorbers and rear lifter, gearbox, air conditioning and auxiliary heater.
