Power factor controller

AVR Electronics, in association with Janitza Germany, has introduced microprocessor based intelligent reactive power controllers, series Prophi. These perform control functions of automatic connection and disconnection of capacitor banks depending upon the setting soft target PF. The sequence of switching is optimised so that the target power factor is reached by as less switching operations as possible, thus enhancing the life of switching elements and capacitors. Prophi is available in two versions - relay output version (3R, 6R, 12R) for standard contactor switching and transistor output version (3T, 6T, 12T) for fast response solid state switching, which reduces heavy currents, voltage flicker, etc, in case of dynamic loads like cranes, welding equipment, etc. Special advantages of Prophi are digital display of many electrical parameters like V, I, F, Q, P, S; odd harmonics up to 19; password protection; alarm outputs in case of over and under voltages; under compensation; harmonic threshold; over temperature, etc.
