Menon Pistons is a flagship company of the Menon Group and engaged in the manufacture of critical auto components like aluminium alloy pistons, piston pins and piston rings for passenger cars, heavy and light commercial vehicles, heavy duty diesel engines for power generation and earth movers, compressors, etc. Established in 1969, the company claims that its major OE customers include Cummins India, Maruti-Suzuki, Tata, BEML-Komatsu, New Holland Ford to name a few. The company exports almost 20per cent of its produce to the USA, Latin America, UK, Germany, France, Turkey, Israel, Singapore, Iran, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc. It signed a technical collaboration agreement with Izumi Industries of Japan and is the first company in India to develop Austanitic Ring carrier (Alfin) pistons. With three manufacturing plants located in and about Kolhapur, the company manufactures 150000 pistons per month with diameters ranging from 55 to 205 mm and weighing in the range of 75 gm to 7.50 kg. While the company claims that it was a pioneer in developing Ni-resist single ring carrier (Alfin) pistons 31 years ago, even today it is the only company making pistons with dual-ring carrier and also articulated pistons. The company was awarded QS 9000 certification in 1998.
