In these drums the photoconductor coating is manufactured from carbon based compounds specifically, photoconductive polymers synthesised from raw materials, obtained by refining fossil fuels such as petroleum. These drums are considered the most environment friendly photoreceptors present today. This is due to the fact that all materials involved in the production of these drums pass a material safety test before being used. Used drums can be conveniently disposed. Dip coating is the most common method of manufacturing these drums. Advances in coating materials and technology have made possible the manufacturing of light-sensitive and more durable drums suitable for use in a wide range of applications, including copiers operating at extremely high speeds.
