Ntc Thermistors

RF Electronics offers positive temperature coefficient (PTC) and negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistors. They are manufactured out of a metal-oxide ceramic material that is capable of suppressing a high in-rush current stage. The PTC thermistors are for use with telephone circuits and exchanges, and for motor start applications. The NTC thermistors are for power supply applications where, because of the capacitor being charged, the bridge is subjected to an exceedingly high current surge when the unit is turned on. The thermistor, because it has a relatively high resistance, limits the current flow for one or two seconds.
