Multi-format waveform monitors

The complexity of digital audio and video systems require sophisticated instruments to verify the quality and compliance of those signals with industry standards. Broadcasters, network operators, production and post-production facilities, needing to maximize return on equipment investments, require a single instrument that monitors and verifies the quality, content and compliance of audio and video signals. Equipment manufacturers need a powerful waveform measurement tool to help them design, install and maintain digital audio and video systems. Building on the success of its WFM 700 multi-format (standard and high definition) waveform monitors, Tektronix has added advanced video measurement features and an optional audio monitoring module to validate standards and document compliance, making a wide range of audio and video measurements possible with a single, powerful instrument. The new AES/EBU digital audio option and field upgrade kit for the WFM 700 Series offers audio monitoring of four channel pairs (up to eight separate channels) from either four rear-panel BNC inputs or audio that is embedded within the digital video signal. When selecting embedded audio for monitoring, the four BNC inputs can be reconfigured to output a de-embedded audio signal, adding to the versatility of the WFM700.
