Laser systems for tool setting

Blum-Novotest GmbH offers Laser systems capable of monitoring tiny tools for breakage even under rough conditions. Length and diameter of stationary or rotating tools can be precisely measured with micron-accuracy. By setting tools in the spindle and at operating speed, clamping errors, run-outs, "flight circle" deviations and thermal drift of the machine can be determined and compensated for. The integrated electronics sends the information to the machine control. Practical proven and optimized measuring cycles for all common control types are included in the delivery program. The visible red-light laser (wave length 670 nm, output capacity < 1 mW) ranges in compliance with worldwide standards within CLASS 2 laser protection and thus requires no specific protective measures. The standard version can monitor tools with smallest diameter of about 0.1 mm. System distances between transmitter and receiver of up to 8 m are possible. The optical components of the transmitter and receiver are protected from coolant and chips by pneumatically operated shutters and barrier air.
