KE-Technical Textiles, formerly KE-Burgmann Fiber India, was part of an Indo-Danish joint venture, set up in the year 1991. In 2001 after financial and management restructuring, it became independent of its parent company. The company offers Gauntlet for Lead Acid Batteries. It manufactures a range of technical textiles from fibreglass, polyester, nylon and other new generation synthetic yarn for use in lead acid batteries, high temperature, cryogenic, gaseous, corrosive and other hazardous industrial application areas. The company has its own facilities of weaving, processing and coating of fabric with various polymers. The company uses fibreglass yarn and polyester yarn as basic raw material. Fibreglass yarn is basically imported material. They are also available in the domestic market through importer at a very high price. Polyester yarn is however available in the home market as required. Other raw materials are available in the local market as required. Some of the chemicals like, silicone resin and silanes are to be imported from Germany. Final products emerge out of several critical stages of manufacturing process. Apart from in-house processing, there is a chain of vendors around the factory to share the load of production in semi-finished stage.
