Fluid Processor, 100 Hp

Fluke offers a new, guaranteed scalable, 100 HP, stainless steel M-710 Series Microfluidizer® from Microfluidics™, a division of MFIC (USA). This high-shear fluid processor complements the existing M-700 Series product line. It provides an alternative to expensive high-pressure fluid processors or traditional homogenisers to pharmaceutical companies facing the dilemma of how to affordably bring new products to market or manufacture large volumes of stable emulsions and suspensions. With the new M-710 processor, pharmaceutical companies can produce from two gallons per minute (GPM) at 40,000 psi to eight GPM at 10,000 psi in batch or continuous mode. The intensifier pump’s synchronous operation keeps product flowing at high velocities and near constant pressure. As product flows through the patented, fixed-geometry interaction chamber, the resulting shear forces reduce particles to sub-micron or droplet sizes with a very narrow particle size distribution. The M-710 processor uniformly deagglomerates, disperses and distributes particles to create very stable emulsions and solids-in-liquid suspensions. The lightweight, longer-lasting Zirconia ceramic plunger and wear-resistant seals, coupled with the interaction chamber’s abrasion-resistant ceramic or diamond construction, keep maintenance and repair costs to a minimum. Because the interaction chamber employs no movable parts, no disassembly is required for cleaning. All these features contribute to the M-710 Microfluidiser processor’s lower cost of ownership. The M-710 comes with an optional Ultra-Clean-in-Place (UCIP) feature that thoroughly cleans the system between batches or before storage. Or it can include a Level I or Level II Steam-in-Place option designed to meet the most challenging regulatory requirements for eliminating microbiological contaminants for injectable pharmaceutical formulations in cGMP manufacturing environments.
