Economic Thread Manufacturing

Drill-/thread milling cutters (BGF) from JEL combine drilling, counterboring and thread milling with one tool. They save at least one tool change and allow thread manufacturing to be carried out in a single operation. The economic advantage of these tools is produced by reducing machining time compared with conventional methods. In standard versions the BGF drill thread-/milling cutters are designed with two flutes and appropriately large chip spaces for drilling into solid. A new 4-flute version is designed especially for use in grey cast iron and allows even shorter cycle times for this. With the same feed per tooth, double feeds can be achieved at thread milling. This reduces the cycle times by up to 30% compared to the 2-flute version. In addition, because of the large number of flutes – respective number of teeth – longer tool life is also possible. The coated tools are designed with internal coolant supply and are available from M6 upwards.
