Diato India manufactures diamond and CBN honing stones in collaboration with Diato GmbH, Germany, world leaders in the manufacture of honing stones. The manufacture of honing stones is a very specialised process, in which skills and experience play a large part. The correct balance of five elements - abrasive (diamond or boron nitride), grit size, crystal, bonding agent and concentration is crucial. Different compositions are required for honing different materials like hardened steel, hard chrome cast iron, soft steel, etc. The company manufactures honing stones suitable for all the precision applications where quality parameters are very critical, viz, cylinder block, connecting rods, fuel injection nozzles, interrupted gears, fork shifts, cylinder liners, compressor parts, barrels, etc. New developments regarding the crystal types and bonds will be displayed at IMTEX 2001. The honing stones meet the strictest international standards using fully imported raw materials. Almost as much as 30% of the Diato India"s production is exported to Europe, making it the only company in the country to export this product.
