Body fat monitor

Sigma Electro Components & Systems offers Body Fat Monitor and Body Composition Analyzer manufactured by Tanita Corporation. This equipment is used to measure and monitor weight and fat content of the human body. It works on the principle of Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) and is measured by a process where a very low safe electrical current being passed through the body by the help of four pen torch batteries. Body fat percentage is calculated based on the amount of impedance offered as the current flow from one part to another. The current passes much faster through lean tissues than does through fat. Based on the height, weight and body type, the measurement is computed by software and displayed as a percentage of total body weight. The company also offers along with the equipment, a reference table, from which one can find out the ideal percentage of fat to age and body structure, and adopt suitable methods to reduce the fat content. The unique new application of BIA delivers an accurate reading comparable to the traditional time consuming and laborious methods such as DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) and Hydensitometry (Under Water Testing).
