Wear-Resistant Wear Plates

Wear is a major problem in mining, process and engineering industries. At times it even leads to shut down of plants due to wear of vital components. This results in heavy downtime and maintenance costs. Over the years, considerable time, effort and money have been spent to combat wear, by using various materials with various degrees of success. Rubber, urethane, ceramics, cast alloy steels, rolled and tempered carbon steels and welded wear plates are some of these. Arco Plates an Australian research company, after extensive research has developed, a patented continuous cast wear plate. It holds several advantages over traditional weld-overlay wear plates; one of which is that since the plate travels through the entire process as a flat plate, it does not require pressing, rolling or flattening. Due to the unique process parameters, the alloy clad plate has a super high alloy content to typically exceed 60 per cent primary carbides without any effects of spalling. The dilution is only 8-10%. Due to austenitic matrix at fusion layer, the alloy clad plate with hardness in excess of 65 RC can be rolled as a pipe. Arcofon plate is a reliable solution to wear problems in industries like steel, mining, cement, thermal and sugar. Some of its applications are wear liners in shovels, dragline bucket protection, chute liners, paul worth chutes, reclaimer bucket liners, apron feeders, crusher liners, slurry pipes (photo), and wear liners for sinter fans.
