Rotating Unions For Steel Industry

Deublin Co, USA, has specially designed a range of rotating unions to meet various requirements of steel industry. In the continuous casting machines the life of rolls (which are subjected to very high temperature) can be increased to an appreciable extent by internal cooling. The continuous casting machine unions effect internal cooling by the transfer of water into and outside the rolls. These models are specifically designed for the harshest environments such as water hammering. Quality seal materials such as silicon carbide are utilised to provide the ultimate resistance to wear. In the annealing and heat treatment furnaces where the slabs are reheated for further processing, the water service unions are used to water cool the rolls. In the hot strip mills where the slab is converted into coils and sheets, the expanding mandrels of the recoilers are hydraulically activated by low speed hydraulic service rotating unions. These unions are available in single, double, triple as well as four passage models.
