Ball Screws & LM Guides

Ball screws, also called as ball bearing screws, re-circulating ball screws, etc, consist of a screw spindle and nut integrated with ball and ball return mechanism, return tubes or return caps. Ball screws are the most common type of screws used in industrial machinery and precision machines. The primary function of a ball screw is to convert rotary motion to linear motion or torque to thrust, and vice versa, with features of high accuracy, reversibility, and efficiency. Precise procedures are adopted to create exact groove profiles, either by grinding or precision rolling. Accurate heat treatment is used to ensure the hardness of the ball screws. These result in maximum load capacity and service life. Precision ball screws provide the most smooth and accurate movement, together with low drive torque, high stiffness, and quiet motion with predictable lengthened service life. Rolled ball screw also provides smooth movement and long life for general applications with less precision. A linear guide way allows a type of linear motion that utilizes rolling elements such as balls or rollers. By using re-circulation rolling elements between the rail and the block, a linear guide way can achieve high precision linear motion. Compared to a traditional slide, the co-efficient of friction for a linear guide way is only 1/50th. Because of the restraint effect between the rails and the blocks, linear guide ways can take up loads in both the up/down and the left/right directions. With these features, linear guide ways can greatly enhance moving accuracy, especially, when accompanied with precision ball screws.
