Orbital Systems offers a wide range of non-contact, laser-based measurement sensors and solutions for almost any industry. Manufactured by LMI Selcom, Sweden, the combined product range, sensor and application knowledge offer measurement solutions that reduce waste, enhance quality and increase yield. These products include auto focus sensors, shadow measurement sensors and optical triangulation sensors where some unique configurations can be offered. These include single point sensors using PSD or CCD technology, single point sensors using dual detectors and multi point sensors. These sensors can provide a resolutions as fine as 5 nanometers and measurement frequencies up to 500 kHz. Typical applications include measurement for thickness, distance, surface speed, vibration, profile, opacity, width, height, diameter, roller gap and material deformation. Besides 3 D surface scan and positioning of robot arm are some other application areas. Laser measurements for the rubber and tyre industry from LMI find use in thickness and profile measurements for web and sheet calenders, die design and tread extrusions, splice offset and overlap, radial and lateral run out of green tires and also tyre side wall inspection and tread wear analysis.
