Laser sintering uses a high power CO2 fibre lasers (carbon dioxide laser) to fuse metal particles, which are in a micro powder form. Powder particle-size ranges from 20 micron to 70 micron and come in pre-alloyed composition state. The system operates in a wide range of materials: from light metals to stainless and tooling steel to super alloys. Materials used are similar to their counterparts in traditional manufacturing, such as titanium, nickel, steel and aluminium alloys.
