Energy Project

The Jain Group promoted Jain Energy Limited intends to attain prominence in the field of power generation by the year 2015. JEL is into renewable and non-renewable energy-thermal, biomass and solar. The company has signed a MoU with the Govt of Chhattisgarh for setting up a 1200 MW coal based super critical power plant at Jangir-Champa and Korba districts. The project is proposed to be implemented over a period of 48 months. The plant, envisaged to be spread over 1000 acres, will provide employment directly and indirectly to over 5000 people. Development Consultants Pvt Ltd are the technical consultants to the project and considerable progress including on land acquisition, completion of public hearings, forest clearance, water allotment has already been achieved. JEL has also signed a MoU with the Government of Madhya Pradesh for setting up a 1320 MW thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh. Towards its commitment to the environment and ecology, the company has been exploring renewable sources such as biomass and solar. JEL has established two subsidiaries, Jain Renewable Energy Private Limited and Jain Solar Energy Private Limited respectively for biomass based power generation and solar PV cell manufacturing.
