Synthetic Fatty Acid Ester

Kaypan Vanijya Pvt Ltd offers a Synthetic Fatty Acid Ester, Additive 8106. This is an excellent “lubricity” additive with low iodine number and free hydroxyl groups to give high affinity to metal surfaces. It exhibits the well-known positive properties of castor oil but avoids its disadvantages such as limited solubility and thermal stability. The benefits of 8106 are especially obvious in the machining of aluminium and its alloys. Compared with other esters, 8106 is very thermally and hydrolytically stable.  This allows its application in temperature regions where natural and other unsaturated fatty material will form resins as well as in water-based lubricants.
The composition is as follows:

• Ester of special fatty acids
• Appearance: light coloured, low viscosity liquid
• Colour (ASTM-D 1500) – approx 1.0
• Viscosity at 40°C – approx 65 cSt
• Density – approx 0.95 g/ml
• Acid number – approx 4 mg KOH/g
• Flash point COC – none
• Mineral oil content – approx 50% by weight.
