Sodium Nitrite

Peri Nitrates offers a quality range of Sodium Nitrite, which is used as a preservative and color fixative in meat and fish. Having a chemical formula NaNO2, this white to slight yellowish crystalline powder (When pure) is hygroscopic and soluble in water. Sodium nitrite is used in veterinary and human medicine as a bronchodilator, an intestinal relaxant or a laxative, a vasodilator, and an antidote for cyanide poisoning. It gets slowly oxidized by oxygen in the air to form sodium nitrate, NaNO3. A strong reducing agent, this compound is used in the following:
