Bimetal Contacts

Hindustan Platinum is India's first company to introduce the Bimetal Contacts in the year 1973. This revolutionary product, that reduces silver content by 60%, helps in lowering cost while retaining high quality. In a bimetal contact rivet, a silver layer is metallurgically bonded to copper shank. This high strength bonding imparts better thermal and current transfer compared to brazed types and allows customers to experience the performance of solid silver at a price that's economically viable. Bimetal rivets can be provided with flat, radial or conical heads. The shank could be solid, indent, tubular or chamfered in various sizes and specifications. The cost-effective bimetal profiles provide strong permanent bond, low electrical resistance, dependable operation at high temperatures and the ability to withstand severe arcing. They can be made either by metellurgically fusing fine silver or silver alloy faced directly to a base metal (usually copper or brass), or by brazing it to steel or other base metal. Both fused and brazed contacts provide a smoother, dense, hard, wear-resistant precious metal face with improved dimensional accuracy to the radius desired. Corrosion possibility is reduced with nickel plating and steel-backing. Bimetal profiles are manufactured to fit every requirement and specification of the customers.
