Fume Cupboards

Fume cupboards, often known as fume hoods, fume cabinets or fume filtration cabinets are localised fume extraction systems which are fitted into scientific and medical laboratories to protect users from harmful substances that could be inhaled. They should not be confused with fume extractor systems which tend to be larger installations affecting the whole environment. There are two main types: ductless fume hoods (re-circulating fume hoods) which rely on filters and ducted fume hoods which expel the fumes to the atmosphere outside.
