Safety Light Barrier

Orbital Systems offers a range of safety photo guards for operator safety in hazardous areas on the machine. These consist of a transmitter unit, a receiver unit and a control unit. A light curtain of infrared beams is sourced from the transmitter unit to the receiver unit. The control unit detects any obstruction in the path and the signal generated is used to ensure safety of the operator and the operation process as a whole. These safety screens have a very fast scan time of less than 1 millisecond. With a part detection capability of a s small as 3 mm, the photo screen is used to detect flying parts/objects ejected from high speed presses. Whenever a component is stuck in the die, the press is prevented from operating the next stroke thereby ensuring that double stroking is prevented. These photo screens have been successfully installed on presses operating at over 2000 strokes per minute. These are available with a screen height of up to 2000 mm with a range of over 5000 mm. Standard models are available with 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48, 64 and 96 beams with a pitch from 3 mm and above. Well designed optics ensure easy alignment, and the systems comply with OSHA and ANSI standards to meet control reliability requirements.
