In line with WMO's guidelines for uniform global standards for transmission and reception of meteorological data, satellite images are commonly known as LRIT/HRIT. The company was chosen for implementation in India in global competition. Its own developed transmission system installed at IMD Delhi pulls data, images, charts, warning messages and almost everything that IMD wants to transmit in real time as they are generated, and transmits the same instantaneously via satellite. Transmissions can be selectively encrypted. BKC's developed field station hardware receives IMD's transmissions in real time and has most advanced analytical tools for use by the forecasters at field stations for their day-to-day use.
